So, Bush is out there defending the response of his administration to Katrina. This man has no sense of decency. No American should forget the images of New Orleans in the aftermath of the disaster. No American can deny that when the government doesn't get involved in a disaster, things will go to hell. The hurricane was a disaster and the response, despite being true to conservative principles, was even worse.

I state the following for you conservatives out there: is the responsibility of the federal government to provide aid because disasters on this scale cannot possibly be handled by local government. It is the only practical solution that alleviates real human suffering (a goal that most conservatives will readily admit they do not share).
