I want to know if the process of adding an extra second to the clock this year has been endorsed by any major religious organization. Are we supposed to take the scientists at their word that this is correct? Can we know for sure this isn't some devious plot by Satan and his minions in the scientific community?

I'm not so sure about that whole "gravity" thing either.
