There's this idea held by many in the south, and I suppose conservatives in general. They seem to believe that Ted Kennedy is some kind of a joke. It is typical that conservatives would confuse a few moral failings as the definition of a man despite a lifetime of accomplishments that have impacted positively upon millions of his countrymen. Ted Kennedy has done more for the people of this country from the Senate, than the last generation of elected Republicans, at all levels of government, combined. That is why group after group is looking to bestow honors upon this great man. He's deserving of every one.
