8 Health Care Glossary Items #6
Not everyone is aware, but most health care insurance policies provide a lifetime maximum benefit. The lifetime maximum benefit specifies a total amount of coverage that an individual in entitled to throughout the life of their policy. Once this limit has been reached, the individual in entitled to no further benefits under that policy.
Although some policies do not include a lifetime maximum benefit, their usage has increased as employers look for ways to cut the cost of health insurance for their employees. All too many people discover their plan's maximum only when reaching it.
