It's time. Equality is something that has always been a hallmark of America, and no group should be deprived of it. New York, which has always been at the forefront on issues of equality, is appropriately poised to take a lead on this issue.The issue of equality is a strong one, although I don't know that I would go so far as to say it's a "hallmark of America". It seems to have become one with those of us on the left. Maybe my view is skewed a bit by living in the south. They don't do equality down here. Not for blacks. Not for latinos. Certainly not for homosexuals.
Let's hope that Sen. Schumer is just the first in a tidal wave of support for equality in the Democratic Party.
