... anti-Semitic to acknowledge the suffering of the Palestinians. Doing so does not even mean that you anti-Israel. There are many Zionists, Eric Alterman comes to mind immediately, who believe that this fact has to be recognized before a solution to the problem of the Palestinians can be found. (Say what you want as well, but Chas Freeman was screwed.)
... socialist to desire universal health care for all Americans. Virtually every major nation in the world provides it. It is a real and practical concern for our nation and it is supported by both moral and economic arguments. It is morally incomprehensible to me that we do not acknowledge health care as a fundamental right for all of our citizens. How can we condemn so many of our own to early deaths when we are, still, the richest nation in the world? It is economically infeasible for our current system to continue. Is there any rational reason that our health care is the most expensive in the world?
... anti-American to expect our press and our political representatives to tell us the truth. If the truth about the cost of war, both in people and bounty, would cost the government support for a war, then the war is not worth fighting. If you look at the human cost and the money involved in waging a war and present that to the American people and find that they still support the war, then perhaps you are fighting a war that is just. That did not happen with Iraq.
