Not to be outdone, the Catholic Church checks in with their own example of church sanctioned bigotry. The Vatican's U.N. observer has made known the Vatican's opposition to a U.N. resolution that calls on the nations of the world to decriminalize homosexuality. Yes, the U.N. wants it to be illegal to kill gay people for no reason other than they are gay, but the Vatican opposes this. Because it might set back the movement to stop gay marriage. Don't forget, if the gays can marry each other then every straight marriage is cheapened and eventually we'll be allowed to marry our farm animals.
Sanctimony and self righteousness on the part of the Vatican never fails to amuse me. Considering their place in history, the atrocities they have both committed and turned away from, can they really be taken seriously as a moral authority?
