Book Banning Stupidity

This is a story from New Rochelle, NY, not Cobb County Georgia as you might expect. Yes, another school district tried to remove pages from a book, in this case "Girl Interrupted", due to material that is inappropriate for children. Of course, we know this isn't a story from my back yard in Georgia because the school district has relented and has vowed to replace the books and end the censorship.

Why do so many people see children as needing protection from reading material? Sure, I think any parent has a right to prevent their child from reading something they find objectionable, but what right do they have to force this on other children? A classic conservative overreaction.

Kids don't have sex because they read about it in a book. They have sex because sex is fun. Sorry, it's true. If more parents and schools would deal honestly with the subject, perhaps their children could make more informed decisions about sex.
