Despite rumors that Senator Chuck Schumer may stay on for an unprecedented third term as chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, he has chosen to step down. In 2006, Schumer led the Dems to the position of the majority in the Senate. In the recently completed election, he has increased the majority to a near filibuster proof level. Senator Bob Menendez, who takes over, has some big shoes to fill.
