Stuff like this is reprehensible, and not at all surprising. The primary goal of being an American is to acquire as much stuff as possible. I'm certainly as guilty of this as anybody. I do think, however, that I would never be a part of a mad rush to get into a store. Let's face facts: this man is dead because of greed, pure and simple.
Ultimately, Wal-Mart deserves the brunt of the blame for this incident. It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure the safety of the employee. Wal-Mart could have taken any number of precautions to prevent incidents like this. Instead, this man lost his life ... trampled to death at an awful job working for an awful company.
If the employees at this store had belonged to a union, would there have been rules in place to prevent this from occurring?
How long before this happens again?
