8 Thoughts About the Last Debate #4
Here's an experiment I would suggest everyone try. Find any site on the Internet offering a video feed of last nights debate. Watch the video, but first, turn off the sound on your computer. Who looks more Presidential to you?
We cannot pretend that style doesn't matter when selecting a President. Obama displays a calm confidence in his ability to get things done. What will that mean in governing terms? It means that during times of crisis, the American people will stay largely calm. It will make it easier for a President Obama to bring the nation together. It will make the American people more likely to sacrifice for the common good.
John McCain, in the simplest of terms, is unfit for this office. He cannot get through an entire debate without seething through clinched teeth at the indignity of having to share the stage with Obama. While the conservatives accuse Obama of being aloof and arrogant, it is McCain whose arrogance has placed him in the position of not believing that he could possibly be losing to the young liberal guy. His reaction to that feeling is turning voters off across the country.
To borrow language from the current President, Obama is a "uniter", McCain is a "divider".
Here's a great video from Jed L at the Daily Kos. Be sure to watch it with the sound off!
