Quick 8: Meet G. Gordon Liddy, John McCain's Friend

In his life, domestic terrorist G. Gordon Liddy has accomplished and tried to accomplish many things. Let's make a list. This will be educational for us all.

1. Let's start with the big one. G. Gordon Liddy was convicted of his role in the break in and wiretapping of the Democratic campaign headquarters. This little scandal was better known as Watergate. (Source)
   
2. Liddy supervised a break in of the Daniel Ellsberg's psychiatrist looking for information to discredit him. Ellsberg is the man who released the Pentagon Papers (top secret information about the war in Vietnam) to the public. (Source)
   
3. By his own admission in his autobiography, Liddy plotted to firebomb the Brookings Institution under orders from the Nixon Administration. (Source)
   
4. Liddy plotted, but did not carry out, the murder of journalist Jack Anderson whose investigative reporting was proving dangerous to the Nixon administration. (Source)
   
5. Liddy plotted with a mobster to murder his fellow Watergate cohort E. Howard Hunt to prevent his testimony. (Source)

7. Liddy opposes the Geneva conventions and the very concept of war crimes, believing them to be quaint. He believes that American soldiers should be trained to be much more brutal than they are today. (Source)
