From an interview on Hannity & Colmes on Sept. 17, 2008 ...
In fact, I don't agree with all of it. But there are some things that Hillary Clinton did that nobody can take away from her. And that is the 18 million cracks that she put there in that highest and hardest glass ceiling in America's political scene. She was able to affect that and I respect that.To paraphrase Llyod Bentsen, I know Hillary Clinton and you're no Hillary Clinton. That's an understatement. The prom queen shouldn't even be allowed to mention Senator Clinton's name. Hillary Clinton is one of the most accomplished women in the history of the American political scene. She was a successful lawyer devoted to helping children. She worked as first lady to bring health care to all Americans (ruined by Republicans). She proved herself a fighter standing up to the most vicious and despicable right wing assault yet unleashed. She is now one of our most capable and determined Senators.
Hillary Clinton came as close as you can come to being the nominee for President, and not actually receive the nomination. She accomplished this, not because some old guy at the top of the ticket wanted to shake things up and maybe still a Clinton vote or two, not simply because she's a woman, but because she's among our best. The prom queen cannot live up to that standard.
